Welcome to Room # 22 at Veterans Elementary!

 

I am honored to have the privilege to teach the amazing kiddos in 2nd/3rd-grade SDC. My teaching philosophy is simple. It is that ALL students are capable of success if only they are appropriately nurtured. I am prepared to get creative to help my students thrive. Success will absolutely look different from student to student and from content area to content area, but growth is undoubtedly always possible. My goal along with my incredible aids is to learn the strengths and needs of each student so that we are able to help them achieve the greatest academic, social, and emotional growth throughout the 2023-2024 school year. 

 

Room 22 is designed to foster creativity and productivity. From brightly colored walls to individual small-group centers to access to sensory toys, the class is entirely student-focused to make our Eagles comfortable. Students will participate daily in ELA and Math centers in small-group settings in the morning. They will receive both whole-group and small-group instruction in Science, Social Studies, Art, and PE every week. Additionally, the students will engage in social-emotional learning to grow empathy and develop appropriate coping strategies while working toward a strong sense of self-efficacy. 

 

The students in the SDC program will be immersed in mainstream general education as often as deemed beneficial in their IEPs. The general education teachers have embraced immersion with open arms and are excited about the rich diversity offered to ALL students through inclusion. 

 

It is going to be an amazing year in Room # 22 at Veterans Elementary. Go Eagles!
