Welcome to Room 14 and the 3rd grade! Let me take this time to introduce myself to you. My name is Mrs. Amy Raichelson and this will be my 30th year teaching and my 15th year here in the wonderful Norris School District! I have a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Chico and a Master’s Degree from Grand Canyon University. I grew up and lived in Ventura County prior to my move to Bakersfield 15 years ago. My husband Jon and I have two fantastic children. Eric is twenty-eight and working as a sound designer, engineer and editor for a production company in Burbank. (He likes to say he watches cartoons all day for a living!) Haley is twenty-two, a recent graduate of UC Davis, with a B.S. in Food Science. She is currently interning at Disney World!
This is going to be such an exciting year! Third grade is the bridge between the upper and lower grades. Many new concepts in all academic areas are introduced, making it both exciting and challenging. Students are bridging the gap from dependency to independency. Third grade spends a lot of time and energy helping students learn how to manage their time and school work. This includes study and organizational skills.
Each child’s success as a student and an individual is very important to me. My mission is to empower my students emotionally, socially, and academically. They will leave my classroom knowing that they have control of their choices and actions. I believe in each of my students. This support will help each child reach his/her highest potential in an active and positive environment.
We will be spending the first few weeks concentrating on classroom management and teamwork. During this time I will be assessing and getting to know your child. Please take some time to fill out the yellow Student Information form so that I may better know your child and how I can best help and support him/her.
Working together will ensure the success of your child. I am looking forward to meeting you at Back-to-School Night. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions you may have now or at any time throughout the year. Your support and involvement are greatly appreciated!
