Math

Math fact fluency is the ability to quickly and accurately recall answers to basic math facts. Typically, it is a result of repeated practice and facts being committed to long-term memory. To be considered fluent, students should no longer need to rely on strategies such as counting on fingers and drawing models. 
 
The first goal is to prioritize accuracy over speed. Next, the goal for students would be the rapid recall of facts. The final stage of fact fluency is for it to become automatic and instantaneous. 
 
Fact fluency saves time, reduces frustration, and allows students to utilize their cognitive capacity for more complex mathematical practices.
